I don’t always read reviews before seeing a film, but I caught several essays about Saltburn’s harsh take on the British class system and wealthy, clueless aristocrats who hold themselves apart from the lesser beings who inhabit the world where most of us live. It’s not a film for the faint of heart, but offers a valuable portrait of a person harboring a personality disorder that can become dangerous when left unchecked. Barry Keoghan’s engrossing and sly performance as Oliver Quick makes it work, presenting Oliver at the outset as a shy young man, a scholarship student at Oxford who’s rejected by snobbish, more affluent students..
