This essay is coming straight from serendipity. The first serendipity was finding a long-forgotten scrap of paper, a confirmation of what I believe is the first order my husband ever placed with Netflix. Dated August 8, 2003, it lists three of my husband’s favorite films: Wild Strawberries, Shoot the Piano Player, and Harvey (above). Cancer treatments had left David with a compromised immune system and being able to receive DVDs from Netflix so we could watch films at home was a Godsend.
